Kazmer PictureMichelle M. Kazmer is a Professor in the School of Information within the College of Communication & Information at Florida State University. She is a faculty affiliate of the Florida State University Institute for Successful Longevity.

Her Ph.D. is from the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her MLS is from the School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. She has worked as a rare book cataloger, as an academic engineering librarian, and as a technical information specialist for an American automotive manufacturer.

Her research focuses on distributed knowledge, and she explores and theorizes distributed knowledge processes. Her work is collaborative and multidisciplinary and prioritizes working with students. Her research in distributed knowledge focuses on knowledge creation and sharing among older adults. Professor Kazmer also maintains a research agenda bringing information science theoretical perspectives to the works of Agatha Christie.

Professor Kazmer regularly teaches in the areas of information organization, information policy, information literacy, IT and older adults, and qualitative research methods.
